WHAT WE DO

Operating as Sunrise House we provide emergency shelter to youth ages 12-17 who have become or are at risk of becoming homeless.

We provide a safe and supportive environment encouraging healthy decision making and to strengthen coping skills. Youth come into our care for many reasons including family violence, addiction in the home, physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, sexual exploitation, and family breakdown.

Each story is as unique as the youth who tells it, therefore individual case plans are created with each individual. Sunrise House is open 24 hours/day, 7 days/week - while in shelter youth are provided with food, clothing, and personal care items.

Family Support: The family support program offers services and referral to families in crisis and/or experiencing conflict. The family support worker assists youth and their families by providing guidance, mediation, problem-solving, emotional support, relationship building, and feedback.

Safety concerns are assessed by the family support worker. The overall goal of the program is to decrease the risk of youth homelessness by assisting the family in the building of healthy coping skills, positive communication, and resistance to crisis so that the youth can safely return home. Follow-up is also provided to the family.
