I recently finished my social work diploma and am working on my BSW while continuing work at Sunrise House. I did my practicum at Sunrise and just never wanted to leave. Follow practicum I was offered a actual position as a youth support worker so I could stay.

I love my job and have always had a passion for working with youth. Why? I have some of my own and often have a basement full of teens hanging out, or maybe I didn’t fully grow up myself; who knows?  I love the charismatic outlook on life that youth have and how they can sometimes be so candid.

What I love most about my job is that even though youth might only come to stay at the shelter for only a blip of their lives, we can make an impact that can change or influence the outcome of their entire future.

My favorite part is seeing or hearing about a clients success after they have left the shelter, and knowing I walked with them on that path.
