Fafa, also known as Scarlette – Joined our team this winter after taking a break from pursuing her Bachelor of Nursing. Fafa aspires to work in psychiatry where her light will definitely shine bright. Starting out in a full time night shift position her welcoming smile, and kind demeanor made her someone the youth were happy to see if they couldn’t sleep, or were coming in during the night. Fafa recently transitioned to a FT rotation so now all youth, and staff get to enjoy seeing her more!
“I spent the summer before starting nursing school volunteering at an orphanage in Mexico, where my passion for youth began. After gaining valuable experience at Odyssey House last year, I felt that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of youth who were experiencing hardship and try to be the person I needed when I was younger. I feel like helping others is essential to becoming the best possible version of myself, and I learned that philosophy from my mother who is a registered nurse in Edmonton. My little family consists of my boyfriend, and our two puppies Oscar and Luna who I love so much. I often bring Luna to play with the kids and those days are always full of laughs and smiles! Sunrise House is a safe space for youth that allows them to heal, empower themselves, and gain valuable insight into themselves with the support of our team. I absolutely love getting updates from past clients and seeing where they are on their life journey. My favorite part of my job are the amazing kids I meet and not only the impact that I am able to make in their lives, but also the impact they make in mine. I am so grateful and proud to work at Sunrise House and can walk into work everyday with a smile on my face knowing I am doing something worthwhile”.
