Susan previously worked at Sunrise House, however left to start her own business – Early Years Pre-School. When the preschool was forced to close due to COVID-19 Susan was quick to offer to help out if needed. Susan loves people, and people are drawn to Susan. Her kindness makes her a welcoming face for youth, families, and her coworkers.
“I grew up in Newfoundland and moved to Grande Prairie in 2006 with my husband and son. My journey with children and youth began as a volunteer in various children and youth community projects. Each child was so unique, and I enjoyed watching their personalities and independence grow. I became an Early Childhood Educator with an emphasis on psychology and sociology. Twenty-four years later and I have the privilege of working with high risk children and youth in community projects, direct daycares and out of school programs. I worked with Sunrise House as a Support Worker for nearly three years before opening my Early Years Pre-School here in Grande Prairie in 2017. This year when COVID-19 impacted our world and closed down our schools and pre-schools I wanted a way to help bring some consistency and familiarity back to our own community. It was a great privilege for me to return temporarily to Sunrise House once again and work along side this amazing team and support the youth of Grande Prairie and surrounding areas”.
