The Emergency Shelter Program at Sunrise House provides immediate, 24/7 support for youth aged 12-17 who are experiencing homelessness or crisis. Our low-barrier shelter offers a safe, welcoming space where youth can access essentials like food, clothing, and a place to rest. Beyond meeting basic needs, we provide trauma-informed care and resources to help youth stabilize and plan for the future.

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by our intake team, who will ask a few questions to better understand your situation and how we can best support you.
For everyone’s safety, we will conduct a belongings search. Please note, this is done without any physical contact. Prohibited items such as drugs, alcohol, paraphernalia, or weapons cannot be brought into the shelter.
If you’re staying overnight, you’ll be shown to your private room. We’ll ensure you have everything you need, including hygiene supplies, snacks, and access to other essentials.

While your safety is our top priority, we also encourage building positive relationships. You’ll have access to the Kickstand Youth Hub, a welcoming space where you can spend time, connect with others, and strengthen friendships in a safe environment.
When you arrive, we are required to notify your guardian of your location unless there are serious safety concerns. Beyond that, your stay at Sunrise House is completely confidential.
