Kathryn Goertzen

Kathryn started at Sunrise in 2012 immediately after completing her social work practicum. Kathryn brings a fun, creative energy to our team, and is known as our resident “handy woman”. Kathryn is incredibly consistent in her work ethic, and over the years we have watched her have two beautiful children, and really find her voice. We are so thankful to have been a part of your journey Kathryn!

“I have grown incredibly in the last 8 years, and have met hundreds of youth. There are a number of reasons youth come to stay at sunrise and I enjoy getting to know each one. I have been there to see youth at their lowest, and watched as they showed us how strong they can be. I have seen days filled will laughter, sat with youth in sadness, and I have faced anger. I believe in what we do at the shelter. One of my favorite things about the shelter is when an old client drops by, to visit, or stops me in public to tell us how they are doing, and tell us about the changes in their lives. Hearing from them reminds me how much of an impact we can have. I love my job even when it isn’t easy. And as I have been told many times I’m a lifer at Sunrise”
